Without Boarders We Have No Country!

Before you start calling me a racist let me give you a little back ground about me.  I am a third generation immigrant from the Island Of Jamaica in the Caribbean's.  My grandmother is a Jamaican born and now a permanent resident of the USA; my mother is a Jamaican born and now a U.S. Citizen.  My 20 year old son, mother is full blooded Jamaican and a citizen of the USA, and my 18 year old son and my 15 year old daughter, mother is full blooded Mexican and a permanent resident of the USA.

When it comes to illegal immigration issues you don't speak for me.  I came to the United States with a Jamaican Pass Port and a Visa in 1973.  I served in both the United States Marine Corps and Army and I became a United States Citizen in 1989 and very active today in political and veteran issues.

Every man and woman that is a U.S. born or naturalized citizen, on a work visa, student visa, or a permanent resident should be outraged on how our government is ignoring this illegal immigration problem.

I have heard every excuse as to why illegal immigration should be ignored. Let me give you some examples as to what I have heard:  The economy will suffer, illegal do the work nobody wants to do, they have children that are born in the U.S., and they are trying to find a better way of life.  Do you know that some illegal send U.S. dollars back to their homeland the dollars does not stay in the U.S. to help with our economy?

America is the melting pot to all nations but we have laws that govern this country.  Hypothetically if a women gets raped should she take the laws into her own hands and revenge herself of this terrible crime?  The answer would be no, we have laws that we must follow.  Illegal immigration means what? That it's Legal or should be excusable?

These laws are in place to do a background check on all foreigners coming into this country.  The background check would let us know if a person is a felon, what laws this person broke if any. A medical history is also looked at, is this person vaccinated against disease that use to plague our country. What is the purpose for this person to entering our country is it for a better way of life or does this person want to do harm to our country?

All foreigners should be documented and identified with a social security card or work visa and taxes should be paid.  Could anybody name one country that looks the other way when someone enters their country illegally?  The answer would be none, every country has a strong immigration law that is abide by their law makers and police.  Why are we any different when it comes to securing our boarders?

Let me give you some facts on this issue:

Illegal immigration refers to the immigration of people across natural boarder a way that violates the immigration laws of the destined country. In politics, the term may imply a larger set of social issues with disputed consequences in areas such as economy, social welfare, education, health care, slavery, prostitution, crime, legal protections, public services, and human rights.

The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS)  estimates  that in January 2000  there  were 7 million illegal aliens living in the United States, a number that is growing by half a million a year. Thus, the illegal-alien population in 2003 stands at least 8 million. Included in this estimate are approximately 78,000 illegal aliens from countries who are of special concern in the war on terror.

The United States has mass illegal immigration because successive Congresses and Presidents have decided they want it. In one action after another over the last decade, they have declined to approve measures known to be effective to slow the illegal flow, they have decided to end various kinds of enforcement that had been effective, and they have approved a series of rewards to those who violate immigration laws.  U.S. Congresswoman representing Nevada Shelley Berkley voted for a fence to keep illegal immigration from crossing onto the US Boarder from Mexico.  One problem the fence would not cover the entire boarder.

All 50 states claim that immigration is not their problem and refuse to report illegal immigration aliens even when the lawbreakers are under arrest for other crimes. Of course, if the states need help on a major crime, the culprit is turned over to the Feds but then the INS promptly releases them as was done in the case of the D.C. sniper, John Malvo. "Instant release" is the reason states refuse to spend their time and money making arrest and turning in illegal.

The new federal agency is called CIS, or Citizenship Immigration Services. The old INS [Immigration and Naturalization Service] was moved to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and renamed.... but NOT changed.

The costs of illegal immigration to the taxpayer are numerous, but the largest costs are education of their children, emergency medical care and incarceration for those arrested for crimes (public defenders, interpreters, judges, jurors, and the list goes on). Despite being ineligible, some illegal aliens also get welfare the same way they get jobs: with identity documents falsely identifying them as U.S. citizens. In addition, if they have U.S.-born children, they may collect welfare assistance in the name of those children. The annual net cost of illegal immigrants (after subtracting their tax payments) to the American taxpayer is likely to be more than $45 billion. Our recent study of the net fiscal "Costs of illegal immigration to Californians" estimated the partial costs at $10.5 billion in that state alone.

The State of New York is threatening to suspend the drivers' licenses of almost 300,000 immigrants who can not verify their Social Security numbers. This should not be a treat; it should be arrest and instant deportation if they are found to be here illegally.

Illegal Immigration is a key factor in the alarming increase in the uninsured and the fiscal crises burdening public health care systems nationwide, according to a new study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

"The Sinking Lifeboat: Uncontrolled Immigration & the U.S. Health Care System" finds that as states cut their health care budgets to try to make ends meet, high rates of illegal immigration are straining the health care system to the breaking point.
One out of every four uninsured people in the United States is an illegal immigrant.
Almost half of illegal immigrants have either no insurance or have it
provided to them at taxpayers' expense.

In some hospitals, as much as two-thirds of total operating costs
are for uncompensated care for illegal aliens.
Border hospitals reported losses of almost $190 million in
un-reimbursed costs for treating illegal aliens in 2000, with another $113 million in ambulance fees and follow-up services.

Criminal aliens-non-citizens who commit crimes-are a growing threat to public safety and national security, as well as a drain on our scarce criminal justice resources. In 1980, our federal and state prisons housed fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens. By the end of 1999, these same prisons housed over 68,000 criminal aliens. Today, criminal aliens account for over 29 percent of prisoners in Federal Bureau of Prisons facilities and a higher share of all federal prison inmates. These prisoners represent the fastest growing segment of the federal prison population. Over the past five years, averages of more than 72,000 aliens have been arrested annually on drug charges alone.

As millions of illegal aliens are allowed to remain here year after year, pressure rises from immigrant advocates to grant them amnesty. But this is the equivalent of pardoning criminals in masses because it is easier than capturing them. It encourages further illegal immigration and, by creating new "legal" immigrants out of old illegal ones, adds dramatically to the backlog of relatives abroad who apply for legal admission. It also adds to the costs to the taxpayer, because when illegal aliens are given legal residence, they become eligible for additional tax-funded services.

Anyone employing or contracting with an illegal alien without verifying his work authorization status is guilty of a misdemeanor. Aliens and employers violating immigration laws are subject to arrest, detention, and seizure of their vehicles or property. In addition, individuals or entities who engage in racketeering enterprises that commit (or conspire to commit) immigration-related felonies are subject to private civil suits for treble damages and injunctive relief.

U.S. Senator Representing Nevada Harry Reid voted to give illegal aliens social security benefits. With Social Security facing projections of insolvency, a Bush Administration plan would hasten that crisis by sending hundreds of millions of dollars in Social Security payments to Mexican citizens living in Mexico-including those who have worked illegally in the United States.

Under current law, an alien who worked illegally in the U.S. can only become eligible for Social Security benefits by becoming a legal U.S. resident.  But officials at the State Department and Social Security Administration (SSA) are preparing a plan that would pay benefits to illegal aliens who have returned to Mexico.

The Bush Administration is negotiating an agreement with Mexico that Mexico has been seeking since the first such agreements were concluded more than twenty years ago.  It would gain greater U.S. Social Security benefits for Mexicans who have worked in the United States, including those who worked illegally, and for their family members.  The agreement has not been signed yet, but the idea has already raised a firestorm of concern that may forestall it.  If it were signed, it would be submitted to Congress, which would then have 60 days for either house to reject it, or it automatically would go into effect as an executive agreement.

We have illegal immigration from all counties and not just Mexico not limited to Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Peru, Laos, Cuba, Sudan and Ethiopia.  Violations of our immigration laws and privacy rights often go hand in hand.
We have a disturbing front in the war against illegal immigration. There are identities of possibly hundreds of U.S. citizens are being stolen or hijacked by criminal organizations and sold to illegal aliens in order to gain unlawful employment in this country.

Would-be illegal immigrants planning to cross the desert and enter the United States on foot are to be given hand-held satellite devices by the Mexican authorities to ensure they arrive safely.  Those who get lost or fall sick during the dangerous four-day crossing will be able to activate the device, to alert frontier police on both sides of the border.

The satellite tracking service will require would-be illegal to register their intentions before setting off - a paradoxical move, given that secrecy is necessary for success - but Mexican authorities are predicting that about 200,000 devices will be handed out when the project is launched formally in the coming year.  Isn't this a crime that a country would give its people devices so they can cross our boarders illegally? That says a lot for a country that helps its people flee its own country.

There are groups that are disgusted as to the way our government is handling illegal immigration.  Such groups are Secured Boarders USA and the Minute Men.  People call them racists what else would you call a group that is trying to secure our boarders; Boarder Patrol?  I am ashamed that our Government Leaders turn their backs to this issue and American Volunteers has to do the jobs that our elected Leaders fail to do.
