The Veterans In Politics International is in FULL support, to allow ALL active, reservist, and guards man, military service member of all branch of our arm forces including our civilian contractors and attache to our active military to be allowed to participate in ALL elections.

Each service member should be able to vote in all local, state, or national elections in their current state of residency, regardless of their current duty station, regardless if we are in peace or war and regardless if they are in the United States or in a foreign land.

We should not exclude the very same people who spread democracy in foreign lands not to give them an opportunity to vote in their own land is "ludacris".

I want to thank you and your organization for giving me the honor of your endorsement, more importantly thank you for getting your members out to vote for me. I could not have made it to the general election without your help. There are those that claim that the School Trustee Dist. E seat is all but wrapped up for my opponent, Terri Janison, I disagree. If you look at the numbers from the primary election you will see that Janison received 7,251 votes and I received 2,753. There is a big difference between those numbers, but what we must realize is that Janison's core group showed up to vote and that she will not improve too much more on her total votes. If we take my vote total and add it to the total of votes for the other two candidates we see that Janison had a total of 7,025 vote against her leaving a difference of 226 votes. I won this primary by spending a total of $226.00. I did not receive any donations other than $200.00 from a friend.

At this time I have no funds to purchase signs and fliers while my opponent has $26,000 in her account. The $26,000 came from unethical and illegal donations from construction companies and architectural firms that have been awarded contracts from the Clark County School Board and Janison casted a vote for them. Her vote has been bought and paid for by the very companies building our schools. Janison voted to spend $11 million to improve the administrator office buildings when we have schools in dire need of repair and some children will go without take home textbooks this fall. I could go on and on with the wasteful spending habits of my opponent and her blatant disregard for campaign ethics, but the fact is there needs to be change for our children's sake.

I am asking that you and your organization help send me to the Clark County School Board. I am in need of donations and help with getting out the vote. This is a Presidential Election year and we may see record turnout, but without your help people will just blindly cast a vote for this seat. I ask that you contact each member of your organization and urge them to donate and to help get my name out to the voters. Here are some basic figures for the items I need to win this election:

100 yard signs $575.00

2000 doorhangers $300.00

1000 fliers $280.00

This is the bare minimum to run this campaign any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

John

I didn't want to let the week end without writing to thank you for helping put me on top in Tuesday's primary. The saying that "every vote counts" held true. I wouldn't have made it through without your support and that of your family, friends and colleagues.

Now we move forward to what promises to be a very competitive general election. The challenge I face is persuading voters that the experience I have as an advocate -- arguing cases in the Nevada Supreme Court and in Nevada's state and federal trial courts -- makes me the better choice. Nevadans deserve a Supreme Court Justice who has prepared and presented cases in that Court and who has trial court experience in the wide range of substantive law issues the Nevada Supreme Court hears.

I will continue to need your help as we move forward to November 4. For now, we are refining strategy, and I ask for your thoughts on what I can do to strengthen my message and candidacy over the next two and a half months. Also, if you are asked about me, my background and experience, or how to contribute to my campaign, please direct people to my website, www.krispickering.com , or they can call me at 702-715-9958.

Thank you again. Your friendship and support mean more than I can say.

Kris

MEDIA RELEASE

August 7, 2008

DIRTY POLITICS IN SCHOOL TRUSTEE RACE

District E incumbent, Terri Janison, reports questionable donations

In the August 5, 2008 Campaign Contributions and Expense Report #1 filed with the Clark County Election Office incumbent Terri Janison had reported a total of $26,795, with the majority of these donations being in excess of $100. This alone is questionable due to the sheer amount of her total donations to date compared to all other school trustee candidates/incumbents who filed the August 5th form. However, the real story behind these campaign contributions happens to be who the donors are.

Ms. Janison has accepted donations from several construction companies who have received contracts to construct some of our valley schools. Sletten Construction, who was contracted to build an Unnamed High School at Levi Avenue and Torrey Pines Drive as well as other projects voted on by Janison, donated $2,500 to her campaign. Core Construction was awarded contracts to construct Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary and Arbor View High School and donated $1,000 to the Janison campaign after her votes for their contracts and change orders to existing contracts. JMA Architects was awarded a contract as well as an increase in their scope of work to the Vegas PBS Center, Distance Education Center, Unnamed Elementary School at Durango and Lone Mountain, Sandra Lee Thompson Elementary School, etc. and donated $1,000 to the Janison campaign after her votes. Ethically, no trustee should be taking donations from companies that receive contracts by Clark County School Board.

Attached you will find the Campaign Contributions and Expense Report filed by Ms. Janison on August 4, 2008 showing a full list of her donors. This Media Release is not a full listing of the alleged improprieties in campaign donations. There is much to be uncovered behind her tactics to retain her seat as the only re-elected incumbent on the school board. Ms. Janison can be quoted as stating at a forum with the Charleston Heights Neighborhood Preservation on July 28, 2008 that there are candidates who would like to use the office of school trustee as a “springboard for other political offices.” She has seemingly set herself up quite well for this endeavor.

This school board has clearly lost sight that its function is to serve the public, mainly the children and teachers of Clark County. Teachers are continually in fear of losing their job and most recently summer employment due to standing up for what is right. Children are falling behind in the national averages for testing and graduation rates. Who has the school board been representing? It seems evident from just this list of donors that they have been looking out for re-election and themselves.

The public should know that there is an alternative to Ms. Janison. With the current state of education in Clark County no incumbent should continue to “serve” the public. Please visit my website for more information about me or feel free to call me for any questions you may have regarding this campaign.

IOWA VETERANS FOR BIDEN ANNOUNCES REGIONAL CHAIRS
Plans Community Forums Across Iowa

Des Moines, IA (November 30, 2007) – The Biden for President campaign today announced the Regional Chairs of its Iowa Veterans for Biden committee, which will host a series of community forums on veterans issues across Iowa throughout the month of December. The Regional Chairs, which will advise Sen. Biden on areas of concern to veterans, has planned the statewide forums in order to give Iowa veterans, their families, and their communities the opportunity to influence the national dialogue on veterans issues. This Sunday, Sen. Biden will join members of Iowa Veterans for Biden for their inaugural community forum at the Beaverdale VFW Hall in Des Moines. The campaign also announced upcoming forums in Fort Dodge, Burlington, Mason City, Sioux City and Waterloo.

“I am honored to have the support of these men and women who have so nobly served our country,” said Biden. “Together, we will ensure that veterans’ voices are heard in the living rooms of voters here in Iowa and across the country.”

The Iowa Veterans for Biden committee is comprised of veterans who have served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea, the Cold War and World War II, Iowa state representatives and family members of fallen servicemen.

“I’m honored to serve on Senator Biden’s advisory board,” said Jeremy Reynolds of Grundy Center, an Iraq War Veteran and Regional Chair of Iowa Veterans for Biden. “Over the course of his career, he has been an outstanding voice for servicemen and women in the field and the veterans that return home. This tour will give us a chance to discuss with Iowans the issues that affect them and their families and gives us a chance to listen to their concerns and bring them to our next commander-in-chief.”

The series of forums will address America’s shared responsibility in caring for our men and women in uniform including a true reform of the Veterans Administration system, providing necessary armor and vehicles to troops in the field, Sen. Biden’s plan for Iraq and the importance of garner bi-partisan support in bring this war to a conclusion.

Sen. Biden recently unveiled his plan to keep America's promise to veterans by reforming the Veterans Administration and making it more responsive to the needs of our veterans once they return home from the battlefield as well as our veterans who have already performed their service.

“Our commitment to those who have admirably served our country must be without question,” said Senator Biden. “Just as we must protect them and give them everything they need on the battlefield, we owe our brave soldiers the same support upon their return home. This is our sacred obligation.”

Sen. Biden believes that all veterans must have access to health care and that the Department of Veterans Affairs has a fundamental responsibility to address their varying care needs in a timely manner. His five-point plan for VA reform aims to improve the handling of claims, eliminate restrictions on veterans’ access to health care, accommodate the long-term care needs of veterans, ensure adequate treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and improve the provision of care to all veterans.

Sen. Biden’s proposal for VA reform is attached. Details on upcoming community forums throughout Iowa are forthcoming and will also be available at www.joebiden.com/iowa.
